MAMC Admission Requirements – US Applicants

General Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • GPA of 3.0 or better for overall undergraduate studies
  • GPA of 3.0 or better for all upper-division undergraduate work
  • GRE test results
    • GSC program minimum GRE scores:156 verbal and 151 quantitative
    • All other programs: 156 verbal/146 quantitative
  • Statement of purpose (goals)
  • Resume
  • Three letters of recommendation

All academic credentials become property of the university. They will not be returned to you or forwarded to a third party. Credentials of applicants who do not enroll will be destroyed.

Overview of Application Process

PREPARE

  • Write statement of purpose.
  • Update resume and save a copy as a PDF for submission.
  • Contact recommenders.
    • Gather their info: full name, title, company/institution, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
    • Alert them about UF request for letter of recommendations.
    • Research how to obtain official transcripts from ALL undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) institutions
    • Obtain unofficial copy for self-calculating GPA and submission for the UF application
    • Plan to take the GRE
      • Give ample time for processing. Schedule exam no later than 4.5 weeks BEFORE the application deadline
      • GRE scores must be within 5 years
      • Florida residency documents (if needed).

APPLY

  • Complete the UF application online
    • Copy/paste statement of purpose into application
    • Submit resume
    • Enter self-calculating GPA
    • Unofficial transcripts from ALL institutions you attended.
    • Residency
    • Letters of recommendation requests
    • Pay the application fee by credit card
      • We cannot see your application unless this is paid.
    • Alert UF College of Journalism & Communications (distancesupport@jou.ufl.edu) that you have completed your application

Send the following materials ONLY after you have completed and PAID the online application.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university
    • Admissions will determine if your bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a 4 year degree from a recognized/regionally accredited university
  • GRE test results
    • GSC program minimum GRE scores:156 verbal and 151 quantitative
    • All other programs: 156 verbal/146 quantitative
  • Statement of purpose (goals)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • One of the following with the required score or documented successful completion of:
    • TOEFL: (Institution Code is 5812)
      Paper-Based: 550
      Internet-Based: 80
  • Please note: The TOEFL ITP is not accepted for admission purposes
  • IELTS: 6
  • MELAB: 77
  • Exemptions: International students are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF, or if you are from one of the following countries:
