Requirements

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be accepted into either the certificate or master’s degree programs:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • GPA of 3.0 or better for overall undergraduate studies
  • GPA of 3.0 or better for all upper-division undergraduate work
  • Submit a statement of goals
  • Submit a current resume

Additionally, applicants for the master’s program must:

  •  Earn suitable scores on the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
    • The program typically admits students with a 156 verbal and 146 quantitative GRE score
    • GRE writing scores are subject to consideration
  • Submit three letters of recommendation

Admission is determined by several factors beyond the application materials including space availability, and supervisory availability particularly in specialized areas. Meeting the minimum application requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

Financial Assistance

Financial aid may be available for full-time and part-time students enrolled in the professional MAMC program. To be eligible for financial aid, students must demonstrate financial need as determined by results from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please visit our financial aid page for more information.

Graduate certificate students do not qualify for financial aid. However, if a certificate student applies to the MAMC program and is accepted, he or she is then eligible to apply for assistance.

Distance programs in the College of Journalism and Communications are not eligible for graduate assistantships, fellowships, scholarships, state tuition waiver, or the Santa Fe College waiver (Florida).

UF faculty and staff: Distance programs in the College of Journalism and Communications are not eligible for the Employee Education Program (EEP).

Please note: Federal financial aid is not available for certificate students.
