Student Spotlight

Julio Aenlle

Summer 2016

Favorite Project

I’ve really enjoyed the variety of assignments that we’ve done throughout the program. Outside of the sites I’ve created in Web Principles and Advanced Web 1 I’ve been able to create some really cool publications using InDesign and Photoshop.

My Career

I’m currently a full-time student.

I enjoy reading all types of books, watching movies and documentaries, or taking in a good amount of sports (especially anything Gators!). I also enjoy strength training, hiking, swimming and running. Lately I’ve begun to dabble in creative writing.

Previous Student Spotlight

Julio was born and raised in sunny Miami, and lived there until he was accepted to the University of Florida for undergrad. He graduated from UF with a degree in advertising and then went on to complete the copywriting portfolio program at Miami Ad School, during which time he interned at ad agencies in New York, Boulder and Miami. After graduating from Ad School, he moved to New York where he freelanced as a writer but eventually decided to move back to a warmer climate. Back home in Miami, he worked for a small company as the social media and marketing manager before applying to the MAMC program, which he currently attends full-time.

Expected graduation:

University highlights, achievements and awards:

I’d say my biggest benefit of the MAMC program has been being able to see how the things we learn in the program can achieve results almost immediately. For example, as part of one of my first assignments in the program I created a site for a friend’s small business. Though it’s a relatively simple site my friend was very happy with the results and the feedback he’s passed along from clients has all been positive.

I chose to attend UF because…

Being able to learn to code effectively while also obtaining a graduate degree from one of the best schools in the country was a big draw for me. And having already been a UF student I knew the quality of education was going to be excellent.

My favorite thing about UF is…

Everything. I’ve been a Gator my whole life so it’s hard to single out any one thing.

When I have free time, I spend it doing…

I try to brush up on things I’ve learned in the WDOC program or try to learn new skills that will help me in becoming a well-rounded designer, sprinkled in with some practice using Photoshop and Illustrator.

My favorite class is…

Research Methods in Digital Communications

My favorite place to work on homework is…

I love to concept and sketch out ideas outside on my patio before moving over to my desk to work on my big, beautiful widescreen monitor.

My favorite professor is…

Jessica Pelasky and Richard Kalehoff

If I could have dinner with anyone, I would choose…

Bill Nye

If I knew I could not fail, I would…

Walk on to the UF football team.

If money was not an issue, I would love to…

Just circle the world visiting the sites of historic events and natural wonders.

After graduation, I plan to…

Work in web design while working to ultimately transition to UX design.
