Cheryl Oberlin brings over two decades of energy and expertise to the world of higher education. As the Director of Distance Education at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, she dives into the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge online programs in journalism and communications.
Collaborating with a fantastic team of stakeholders, instructors, instructional designers, and advisors, Cheryl ensures courses are top-notch, user-friendly, accessible, and packed with quality. Her mission is to champion online students, making sure they achieve their academic and professional goals through engaging, effective, and accessible learning experiences.
Armed with a Master of Education in Educational/Instructional Technology, an MBA in Project Management, an MA in English: Rhetoric and Composition, all from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and three master’s Certificates in Project Management (George Washington University) and Instructional Design for Digital Learning I & II (Wright State University), Cheryl blends education with innovation. She is also an active, certified Master Reviewer, Course Review Manager, and Program Reviewer by Quality Matters. She is a volunteer peer reviewer for the Journal of Educators Online and serves as a Board Member for the United States Distance Learning Association.
As an Adjunct Faculty member at UF, she loves sharing her passion and insights with the next generation of online educators and communicators. Cheryl teaches Personal Branding and the Seminar in Mass Communications for Teaching in UF CJC’s Online graduate program. She previously taught English, speech, and entrepreneurship at an R2 university and various community colleges.
