Iman Zawahry is an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and passionate advocate for representation in media. She holds an M.F.A. in Film Production from Florida State University and a B.A. from the University of Florida. Her work has screened at over 150 venues worldwide and earned numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award, the Princess Grace Award, and fellowships with Sundance and Warner Brothers. Her debut feature film, Americanish, was globally distributed by Sony Pictures International.

Currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Florida, Zawahry was honored with the 2024 Undergraduate Teaching Award. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in experiential learning and creating safe, inclusive spaces where students can explore their voice through storytelling. She is deeply committed to helping students develop the skills and confidence to create powerful, meaningful media.
