Krystel Knowles brings 19 years of experience across television, digital, and print journalism. She holds a bachelor’s degree in television production and a master’s degree in digital journalism from the University of South Florida.

Knowles began her journalism career in print and photography before transitioning to broadcast journalism, where she developed a passion for telling compelling, human-centered stories that connect with audiences. She later became a two-time Emmy-nominated senior producer and reporter at PBS Orlando. In that role, she produced and reported long-form documentaries focused on space and the environment. She also anchored a condensed Spanish-language edition of the news program, covering immigration, politics, and local issues.

Throughout her career, Knowles has worked in Tampa, Sarasota, and Orlando as an anchor, reporter, producer, and multimedia journalist. Her experience ranges from live coverage of rocket launches along Florida’s Space Coast to investigative and enterprise reporting. Across every platform and subject, she focuses on uncovering the human element and helping audiences better understand the issues shaping their communities.

Her work has received numerous honors, including Associated Press, Telly, and Green Eyeshade awards, as well as two Emmy nominations.

Originally from Tampa, Knowles has lived in California, Canada, the Bahamas, and Lima, Peru. These experiences have broadened her perspective and enriched her approach to journalism and storytelling. She is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in French.

Outside the newsroom, Knowles enjoys hosting programs and conventions and pursuing her interests in acting, singing, and dance. Her experiences both within and beyond journalism continue to inform the creativity, curiosity, and cultural awareness she brings to her work.
