Creative Director - GAVIN

Currently, I am the Creative Director for GAVIN a powerhouse boutique integrated marketing communications (IMC) firm in York, PA. Prior to this position, for 30 years I managed all aspects of the day-to-day operations of my own full service branding, advertising, and integrated marketing communications firm, Holberg Design, Inc. My firm offered clients traditional, new media and digital design, marketing, and advertising services. A partial client list includes regional and national companies such as Hershey Foods, Aetna, the PA Fish and Boat Commission, OSS Health, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Lifetime Brands (Pfaltzgraff Division), Wyndridge Farm, the York County Economic Alliance, the Wolf Organization, WellSpan, Harsco Corporation, Peoples Bank, Stauffers of Kissel Hill, The Pennsylvania Lawn and Nursery Association (PLNA), and many more.

I am involved with daily creative concepting, social media implementation, strategic planning for client advertising and marketing programs, and execution of those plans. I provide our clients with award-winning graphic design and art direction focused on branding, corporate identity, packaging, print collateral, advertising, annual reports, web, and multimedia with a special emphasis on conceptual design and new media.

I have received numerous accolades for my work including the American Advertising Federation Silver Medal Award, the Central Penn Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award, Kutztown University’s Young Alumni of the Year Award, an American Design Silver Award, and numerous ADDY Awards. I encourage you to review my professional profile on LinkedIn.

Academic Interests and Teaching Philosophy

In addition to my concentrated, real-world agency experience, I currently teach masters level courses in communications at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). To enhance my professional and teaching credentials, I earned a Master of Arts Degree in Communications Arts with a concentration in Advertising from Ellis University. Early on, I earned a BS Degree in Art Education from Kutztown University. My passion for teaching started in my undergraduate days. Teaching allows me to connect with new raw talent, creative thinkers, determined artistes, and people who just love the technologies associated with new media. It allows me to help others find their way to visually enhance our world. We all love to leave a mark.

The Life Behind the Work

When not working or teaching or working, I enjoy fine art, music, film, photography, video, and travel. Oh, and scuba diving! I’m a professional dive master. If only my computer worked 40 feet under! Enjoy the course… I’ll certainly enjoy working with you!
