Favorite Project

Not sure if any of these are online to provide links to but I really enjoyed creating a marketing plan for The Ritz-Carlton in my Virtual Reality class. I enjoyed learning about virtual reality and gamification and how brands can use it to increase engagement. Before taking this class, I assumed virtual reality had to do with video games. This class really expanded my knowledge on gamification and made me aware of its role in marketing.

My Career

At Pandemic Labs, my role was client relations. I was responsible for social strategy, ads, and relationships for over 18 different Ritz-Carlton properties. Part of this role also entailed traveling to various properties to conduct site visits. I also travelled to properties to managed real-time events on social media for special occasions such as Cayman Cookout where I covered the events live.
At my position at the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation, I manage content creation and community management for our Facebook page, two Twitter accounts, Instagram account, and our Pinterest page. I also work closely with the team to create marketing plans to increase awareness about this deadly form of skin cancer and to create engaging content to get people excited about sun safety!

Travel to new places, eating great food, waking up early to run/walk, learning about the changing world of social media, and spending time with my family!

University highlights, achievements and awards:

I started my master’s program three years ago when I graduated from college. During that time I was beginning a new full-time position, I had a part-time job, and I was dating my soon to be husband! One of my biggest accomplishments is the fact that I have continued to work my way through grad school despite having a very hectic professional and personal life. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every class that I have taken. This program has helped me to gain a better understanding of social media marketing and given me the skills required to work in this field and be successful at my job. During this program, I created a social media marketing campaign for the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation, which we have implemented. I also have used the knowledge acquired at my job at Pandemic Labs. The world of social media is constantly changing, so this degree has really helped me to stay up-to-date with all of the changing elements.

Current Employment:

For the past three years, I have been juggling two jobs. I was an Account Executive and Pandemic Labs where I managed client relations, content creation, ads, and community management for The Ritz-Carlton. I just ended my time there in order to prepare for our move to Florida and the arrival of our first child. I also manage the social media accounts for the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation. Once we move, I plan to acquire more clients like the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation to try to start my own business in social media marketing. This will give me the flexibility to continue to work in this industry while I become a mother.

I chose to attend UF because…

it is a highly ranked college, the school of communications is very well known, and it offers a degree with a specialization in social media , which many other colleges do not offer. This is such an up and coming industry, and I really do feel that I am ahead of the curve since I will have my masters in this field.

My favorite thing about UF is…

The professors! They are all amazing, talented professionals that want to see their students succeed. It’s really tough to teach a class that is all online. Each of my professors have gone over and above to ensure that they are providing us with the best tools possible. They also work in the field so they provide us with real-life skills and training to ensure our success after graduation.

When I have free time, I spend it doing…

Traveling! While working with The Ritz-Carlton, I have had the ability to travel to so many beautiful places. Any free time I get, my husband and I love to book a flight and head somewhere new for the weekend.

My favorite class is…

Social Media and News. So many of us in this day and age rely on social media to inform us of what is going on. Social media has completely changed the world of journalism and how people consume news. I found this class interesting and challenging. I was a broadcast journalism major at Boston University, so this class had personal and professional relevance for me.

My favorite place to work on homework is…

From the comfort of my couch! I love that after a long day of work, I am able to listen to all of my lectures, do my readings, and work on projects at home. It’s so much easier than having to go to class.

My favorite professor is…

I truly can’t choose just one. Each of them have been amazing and provided me with useful knowledge and skills to better my career in social media marketing.

If I could have dinner with anyone, I would choose…

Anderson Cooper. I am fascinated by his personal and professional life. His work ethic is one that I truly admire. I was in Boston during the Boston bombings. I was covering the event for my journalism class, and I spent much of my time following Anderson Cooper around Boston to watch him broadcast live.

If I knew I could not fail, I would…

Begin my own social media marketing company geared towards the hospitality and travel industry.

If money was not an issue, I would love to…

After graduation, I plan to…

Use my skills to further my career in social media marketing. I would love to begin my own business and manage a few clients on my own.
