Global Strategic Communication Careers Forecast is Promising
Demand for global communication professionals has grown exponentially as businesses continually expand operations to include manufacturing, sales and logistics overseas and across borders. In a 2014 study of communications professionals conducted for the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, U.S. respondents projected 5.68 percent growth in international communications staffing in the coming years.
International advertising budgets are growing. Worldwide, more than $520 billion was spent on advertising last year, an increase of 5.1 percent. Industry publication Ad Age projects 4.9 to 5.6 percent growth in each of the following years. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the employment of media and communication workers with a background in international public relations will increase by 7 percent over the next decade. Nonprofits and government agencies have similar needs and are actively searching for communication professionals to advocate for them on an international stage.
