Joe Klimavich likes to describe himself as a “pracademic,” a college instructor with considerable practical experience in the field. For more than three decades, he has been a public relations, marketing, development, and social media professional, in corporate positions and as an independent practitioner, with a special interest in issues management and crisis communication.

He has been an adjunct instructor of communication for a number of New England colleges and universities for more than twenty years, including classroom and online instruction in public relations, interpersonal communication, mass media, effective speaking, leadership, and management courses.

Much of Joe’s professional life has been spent in key leadership positions in healthcare/managed care, and banking, but his work as an independent public relations consultant has spanned a variety of industries, including insurance, service, retail, restaurant, non-profit, and numerous other fields.

Early in his career, Joe recognized that being a competent writer is at the core of everything else he does. He also discovered that the more communication skills he acquired, the more proficient he would be in his public relations role, so he added graphic design, photography, web development, e-commerce, branding, social media, and digital content creation to his PR toolbox.

Joe is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Boston Chapter, and the Independent Practitioners Alliance (IPA) Section. He holds a Master of Science in Professional Communication (MSPC) degree from Clark University. He earned his undergraduate degree at Worcester State University, where he was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award in education, the highest non-degree recognition the university bestows on alumni.
